Guitars and Glasses

Awhile back we got a report from Caeden's teacher that he was not learning the alphabet as well as they would like. It wasn't long until we heard back that he really did know what he should and was just being a stinker before, my words not theirs. Anyway this got me started on a little project that I have always wanted to do with the boys, make them their own alphabet book. So we started doing the letter a week thing again.

This week is being brought to us by the letter g. The activities for today were as follows.

Table Golf, Caeden and Kekoa got a kick out of this. Caeden ended up playing for most of the morning.

Lookin Good Pooch

Xou Xou got a "puppy cut." Here is a before and after photo for a little comparison. We haven't been able to see his eyes since we got him and the haircut has been a long time a coming. After a fiasco at PetSmart where they were "unable to control" our 7 pound pooch, we found a professional here in town that was able to get the job done right. You can tell from the photo he is a mighty and ferocious animal. Full of wiggles, but nothing that someone trained to trim a dog's hair can't handle.

Candy Cane Harvest

We planned Camlyn's birthday party just in time for the candy cane harvest. Around Caeden's birthday lollipops are in season but they are not winter hardy around here. We are lucky the candy canes ripen around the first part of December.

Camlyn's kitty cake

What is a birthday party without a big brother around to help? Stopping to look at the cards.

Ever had a birthday party in your pajamas? He was not the slightest bit interested in getting dressed.

Happy Birthday Camlyn

When you were born they told us you were special because you had a blue hat and not many of them were made. They did not know how right they were. How could they have know how sweet, calm, and intelligent that you would be.

It is so hard to believe that my handsome little baby has turned into such a handsome little boy. There are quite a few things that we have learned about you in the past three years. When you cock your head to the side like this you are really paying attention and learning.

Even though you have been so quiet, the storm is coming. You have been sitting back and soaking in everything and now you are ready to let us know. You have really started to talk and everything out of your mouth is so precious to hear. Even though you are quiet it does not mean that you are serious all the time. You are also a silly little goofball that likes to tease.

We are also discovering that you are quite loyal. There have been quite a few things that have been around since the beginning. Your thumb...

The Blankie...

soccer balls...

and your love of being upside down.

The Dalmation and the Tiger

Here are a couple of nice little boys that have been coming to visit us in the mornings. This morning they were a tiger football player and a Dalmatian.

All was fine and dandy until Xou Xou got the Dalmatian's tail.
He spent the rest of the morning walking around like this...

Talking Dog

Mom training the dog to answer questions. The mess you are seeing in the background is the bathroom being finished, we think ; ).

Bunch of Potty Mouths

Camlyn's potty training has been on hold for the past couple of weeks. Potty training the puppy has been the highest priority because I would rather not buy diapers for both. Oh yes, you can buy puppy diapers. The other night on the way up the stairs after his bath Camlyn informed me he was about to have an oops. I whisked him up the stairs and deposited him on the potty. Then the whole family became involved. Caeden came into the room to join in the potty fun as well. There was a bunch of talk about snakes and stinks and when Camlyn announced that it coming Caeden started a rousing round of "She'll be coming around the mountain." When all the excitement was over Caeden ran downstairs to inform his daddy what Camlyn did. What did he tell Moises? Not that Camlyn used the potty, on no. "Daddy, Camlyn pooed great big!"

Back Of Our Cereal Box

Not so long ago Lani shared with us what was on the back of their cereal box. At a recent milk run to our grocery store I found this. My boys are not big cereal eaters normally except for the occassional craving for "CheeChos." Caeden has been on a football kick lately and this really turned his head around. Cyclone Crunch has replaced his beloved "butter and jelly" as breakfast of choice. Certainly a lot easier to produce when breakfast is demanded before the coffee is made. Wonder what happens when I keep the box but replace the contents inside?

A bunch of little changes...

  • big boy bed
  • appearance of pull ups
  • potty chair is moved back into the bathroom, and daddy isn't complaining
  • highchair sitting idly in the corner
  • mommy listening in on little boy conversations, one of which went something like this, "Happy, Caeden? Yeah. You?"

All this adds up to a boy who is about to have a birthday. He voted today to have a kitty cake, just a little tweak from the puppy cake that he had last year. What will Xuo Xuo say?

At least the boys are excited....

So we have already been outside this morning to play in the snow. Caeden had very lofty plans of making tunnels and snowmen. Camlyn was a bit more on the realistic side. He wasn't outside for more than a minute, "It's cold out there." He was content eating his breakfast at the front door watching Caeden wallow around in our frosted grass. Now that we got that out of our system we will see what the rest of the day brings....

Happy Halloween

So today we finally got the pumpkins carved, and lit.

The fireman is not complete without his Dalmatian right?

And off we went.

Came back for some spider meatloaf.
